The 2019 Vintage Release of Midleton Very Rare, the annual signed blend Irish Distillers has produced at the Midleton distillery in East Cork since 1984. It marries mature triple distilled pot still and grain whiskey, the pot still adding an oily, spicy weight and the grain a gentle sweetness, unpeated throughout.
Maturation in lightly charred ex-bourbon American oak brings toasted vanilla, fresh orchard fruit and a whisper of new wood, the texture staying oily and smooth at 40%. It is a polished, fragrant edition, the Cork house character of fruit and silk rather than dried fruit and spice.
