Description
The 2018 Vintage Release belongs to the annual series Irish Distillers has run since 1984, each edition signed by hand by the master distiller. It blends older single pot still and grain whiskeys, triple distilled at the Midleton distillery in Co. Cork, and was released globally.
Maturation is in lightly charred ex-bourbon American oak barrels, which push vanilla and honey alongside the malt extract and a dry tobacco leaf edge. At 40% the whiskey is soft and layered, fresh orchard fruit turning to cooked fruit over the silky, unpeated Midleton character, the grain rounding the pot still spice into a gentle finish.
