Description
Midleton Very Rare has been released once a year since 1984, each edition signed by hand by the master distiller. It is a blend of older single pot still and grain whiskeys, all triple distilled at the Midleton distillery in Co. Cork, the engine room of Irish whiskey under Irish Distillers. This 2015 bottling was prepared for the European market.
Maturation runs entirely in American oak, a mix of first fill and refill bourbon casks that lends vanilla, soft baking spice and a honeyed weight rather than heavy sherry. At 40% the whiskey stays polished and gentle, with dried fruit and malt extract over the orchard fruit and silky texture that mark the Midleton house style.
