Description
Midleton Very Rare has been Irish Distillers' annual prestige blend since 1984, chosen and hand signed each year by the master distiller at the Midleton distillery in Co. Cork. This 2014 release gathers older triple distilled pot still and grain whiskey, the pot still lending baking spice and a creamy weight, the grain keeping it soft and approachable.
Matured in ex-bourbon barrels, it leans on American oak for vanilla, light toffee and orchard fruit, finishing polished and honeyed at 40%. In the house style it stays unpeated and silky, an easy, elegant expression of the East Cork blending tradition rather than a heavily sherried one.
