Description
Midleton Very Rare has been released once a year since 1984, each edition signed by hand by the master distiller. This 2008 bottling blends older single pot still and grain whiskeys from the Midleton distillery in Co. Cork and was prepared for the European market by Irish Distillers.
The whiskey matured in ex-bourbon American oak, giving vanilla, gentle spice and a honeyed sweetness at 40%, with a fragrant lift and a faint char from the toasted oak rather than any peat. Triple distilled and unpeated, it carries the orchard fruit and silky texture of the Midleton house, the aged grain smoothing the pot still prickle into a soft, understated finish.
