Description
Midleton Very Rare, first released in 1984, is Irish Distillers' once a year prestige blend, each edition signed by hand by the master distiller. This 2007 bottling gathers older single pot still and grain whiskeys distilled at the Midleton distillery in Co. Cork and was prepared for Europe.
The whiskey matured in ex-bourbon American oak, the constant of the range, giving vanilla, gentle spice and a rounded honeyed sweetness at 40%. Triple distilled and unpeated, it carries the orchard fruit, malt and silky texture of the Midleton style, the aged grain smoothing the pot still prickle into a soft, understated finish.
