Description
Midleton Very Rare has appeared once a year since 1984, each release signed by hand by the master distiller. The 2004 edition marries older single pot still and grain whiskeys distilled at the Midleton distillery in Co. Cork and was prepared for Europe by Irish Distillers.
The blend matured in ex-bourbon American oak, lending vanilla, light spice and a honeyed sweetness at 40% rather than heavy sherry. Triple distilled and unpeated, it shows the orchard fruit, malt and silky texture of the house, the aged grain rounding the pot still prickle into a clean, gentle finish.
