Description
One of the earlier millennium editions of Midleton Very Rare, the annual blend that Irish Distillers has signed and released each year since 1984 from Midleton in East Cork. The 2000 bottling marries older triple distilled pot still and grain whiskey, the pot still bringing spice and creamy weight, the grain keeping it light.
Matured in ex-bourbon American oak, it shows the polished, honeyed side of the Cork house style, vanilla and orchard fruit with a gentle spice on the finish, unpeated and smooth at 40%. It is a restrained, elegant blend rather than a sherry driven one.
