Description
Midleton Very Rare, first released in 1984, is the annual prestige blend of Irish Distillers, each edition signed by hand by the master distiller. This 1998 bottling brings together older single pot still and grain whiskeys distilled at the Midleton distillery in Co. Cork and was prepared for Europe.
The blend matured in ex-bourbon American oak, giving vanilla, gentle spice and a rounded honeyed sweetness at 40% rather than sherried depth. Triple distilled and unpeated, it carries the orchard fruit, malt and silky texture of the Midleton style, the aged grain smoothing the pot still prickle into a soft, understated finish.
