Barry Crockett Legacy is Midleton's single pot still homage to the distiller of the same name, and this 2022 release continues the all bourbon recipe. Distilled at the Irish Distillers site in Co. Cork from malted and unmalted barley and aged in a marriage of seasoned and unseasoned American oak, it was bottled at 46% for the European market.
Ex bourbon maturation gives a pale, fruit forward whiskey, with fresh orchard fruit, honey and vanilla ahead of a softer cooked fruit sweetness. The pot still mash bill supplies the peppery, oily backbone, while triple distillation keeps everything smooth and rounded. The finish is honeyed and gently spiced, showing the lighter, more elegant expression of Midleton pot still.
