Description
A single cask bottling of Midleton single pot still whiskey, distilled at the Irish Distillers site in Co. Cork and aged for twenty seven years in a single first fill bourbon barrel, cask 994. Drawn under the Very Rare Single Cask banner and limited to 192 bottles for the Dutch market, it carries a full age statement rare even within Midleton's own range.
Long maturation in first fill American oak leads the character, with vanilla, coconut and honeyed malt layered over the peppery, oily pot still spice that the mash of malted and unmalted barley gives. Bottled without dilution at 49.6%, it holds the silky, orchard fruit texture of triple distilled Midleton while the decades in wood add polished oak and a dry, spiced finish.
