Description
Midleton Very Rare is the annual prestige blend from Midleton in East Cork, launched in 1984 and signed each year by the master distiller. This bottling was distilled in that first vintage year and released in 2004 to mark two decades of the range, a 20 Years Old at cask strength, an unusual full power outing for a line normally reduced for balance.
Drawn from ex-bourbon casks and presented at 53%, it marries older single pot still and grain whiskey, both triple distilled and unpeated at Midleton. Age and strength give a polished, honeyed depth, orchard fruit and baking spice over a soft, oaky sweetness. Just 400 bottles were released, this run for the Polish market.
