This single pot still whiskey belongs to Method and Madness, the experimental line from Midleton in East Cork owned by Irish Distillers. Distilled from a mash of malted and unmalted barley and triple distilled, it is a no age statement release bottled in 2019 for the German market at 46%.
Ex-bourbon maturation is followed by a finish in wild cherry wood, an aromatic timber that adds a fragrant, faintly floral edge and a fresh oak note. The pot still spirit brings orchard fruit and honey, a malty, nutty core and the oily, peppery texture typical of Midleton. Unpeated, in the smooth Cork house style.
