Method and Madness is Midleton's experimental line in East Cork, run by Irish Distillers to trial woods outside the usual repertoire. This single pot still whiskey, distilled from malted and unmalted barley and triple distilled in the Cork style, carries no age statement and was bottled in 2021 for the Dutch market at 46%.
The spirit matures in a mix of first fill and refill American oak before a spell in mulberry wood, a rare finishing timber that leans sweet and lightly fruity. Look for citrus and fresh orchard fruit, honey and vanilla, all riding on the peppery, oily pot still texture that defines the house. Unpeated and creamy.
