Description
This cask strength single pot still is part of Method and Madness, the experimental line at Midleton in East Cork run by Irish Distillers. Distilled from malted and unmalted barley and triple distilled, it carries no age statement and was bottled in 2022 for the Irish market at 48%.
Ex-bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks provide the base before a finish in Japanese cedarwood, an intensely aromatic timber that adds a fragrant, almost incense like lift. The pot still spirit shows citrus and orchard fruit over a malty, husky cereal note, with the oily, peppery texture of Midleton and no peat. The high strength keeps it bold.
