Description
Method and Madness is Midleton's experimental line in East Cork, and this single pot still whiskey is presented at cask strength, 48%, without an age statement. Distilled from malted and unmalted barley and triple distilled by Irish Distillers, it was bottled in 2022 for the Irish market.
The spirit is built on ex-bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks before a finish in Japanese chestnut, an aromatic wood that adds spice and a sweet, tannic edge. The result runs from vanilla and dark chocolate to citrus and orchard fruit, with a malty, hay-like note and the oily, peppery pot still texture of Midleton. Unpeated, carried by the extra strength.
