Description
This single pot still whiskey is part of Method and Madness, the experimental line from Midleton in East Cork owned by Irish Distillers. Distilled from a mash of malted and unmalted barley and triple distilled in the Cork manner, it carries no age statement and was bottled in 2018 for the European market at 46%.
Ex-bourbon and Oloroso sherry barrels underpin the whiskey before a finish in French chestnut, an aromatic, tannic wood that adds nutty spice. Expect stewed and dried fruit, a whiff of old oak and the oily, peppery texture that is the signature of Midleton pot still. Unpeated and smooth.
