Description
The Single Grain is part of the core Method and Madness range from Midleton in East Cork, an experimental line under Irish Distillers. Column distilled from grain rather than pot still or malt, it is the lighter, softer side of the distillery, released for the European market at 46%.
After ex-bourbon maturation the whiskey is finished in virgin Spanish oak, fresh casks that push dried fruit, spice and a fragrant, sherried oak note over the gentle toffee and vanilla of the grain. Bottled at 46%, it keeps the soft, sweet texture of grain whiskey while the new oak adds a drier, spicier lift and a lightly nutty finish.
