Description
Rye and Malt comes from the Micro Distillery within Method and Madness, the small experimental still at Midleton in East Cork where Irish Distillers trials grains rarely seen in Irish whiskey. This 2021 release, bottled for the Irish market, is built on rye alongside malted barley, an uncommon recipe for the country.
Aged in ex-bourbon barrels, it carries vanilla and citrus with the dry, peppery spice that rye brings and a husky cereal edge. Bottled at 46%, it drinks bright and firm, the fresh fruit and grain sweetness cut through by a crisp, spicy backbone that marks it out from the softer Midleton blends.
