A rare old single pot still from Method and Madness, distilled at Midleton in East Cork in 1988 and bottled in 2021 at 33 Years Old. Drawn from a single Japanese Mizunara oak cask numbered 268340, it yielded just 252 bottles, released for the European market. Single pot still, from malted and unmalted barley, is Ireland's own style, triple distilled and unpeated.
Mizunara is a scarce and porous oak prized for its incense like character, and three decades in it have layered sandalwood, spice and dried fruit over the waxy, peppery pot still spirit. Bottled at cask strength of 52.8% without dilution, it is full and resinous, the barley sugar and oily texture of aged Midleton pot still carried to a deep, aromatic finish.
