Description
Marzadro Bombardino Bellabomba is an Italian egg liqueur from Distilleria Marzadro, the grappa distillery in Trentino. In the advocaat manner it blends egg with spirit and sweetening into a thick, custardy liqueur, here built on eggs, vanilla, rum and milk from Trentino and bottled at 17%. The house is known first for its grappa, and that distilling background feeds the liqueur range, of which this bombardino is a traditional part.
The nose is aromatic with vanilla, the palate creamy and full bodied with vanilla over a custard and nutmeg sweetness, finishing long and full. Behind the bar it works as a rich, eggnog style body and dessert ingredient, adding custard texture and vanilla sweetness to a glass. It is classically taken warm with a dollop of cream and a dusting of cocoa, the Alpine bombardino serve, and it lifts a coffee or a dessert cocktail just as well. As an egg liqueur it is finite once opened, so keep it cool and use it reasonably fresh.
