Description
Mars Tsunuki Single Malt is a no age statement single malt from the Tsunuki distillery in Kagoshima prefecture, operated by Hombo Shuzo since 2016. Sitting on southern Kyushu's warm, humid coastline, Tsunuki was built to produce a richer, more maturation-forward style than Hombo's cooler Nagano site, and this Germany-market release at 50% reflects that ambition.
Matured in Ex-Bourbon casks, the distillery's warm climate drives faster extraction, lending generous vanilla and coconut from the wood alongside the lush tropical fruit character that is typical of the house style. At 50% the spirit carries real weight without tipping into austerity, and the finish retains the rounded warmth that Kagoshima's climate imparts.
