Description
Malteco Edicion Limitada Anniversario 1992 is a Guatemalan ron drawn from a 1992 vintage and bottled at a striking thirty years by Bodegas de America. It is a limited anniversary release, sitting at the older, more reflective end of the Spanish style where decades in cask shape the character.
Distilled on a column still from molasses and matured in ex-bourbon oak, it shows the rounded, mellow profile typical of the region. The nose is fresh and round with orchard fruit and vanilla, the palate turns oily and woody with a roasted edge, and the finish carries oak, dried fruit and caramel over a faint sweetness. There is a gentle sweetening in the mix rather than a bone-dry frame, which keeps it soft and approachable. The long ageing lends an oily, oaky depth, making it an easygoing after-dinner pour that newcomers and seasoned drinkers can both settle into.
