Long Pond Rum Sponge No. 21A 2000

Part of Decadent Drinks' Rum Sponge collection, this is a 22 year old single cask Long Pond distilled in 2000. Long Pond is the historic Wedderburn house in Trelawny, funky and fruit forward at the top of its range, but this long aged release shows a notably gentler, more rounded side of the estate.

Matured in ex-bourbon and bottled at a comfortable 49.6 percent, it leans into cappuccino, milk chocolate and overripe banana alongside tart pineapple, roasted wood and a touch of olive brine, with the esters dialled back to a mild hum. The palate is creamy and surprisingly intense for the strength, finishing warm and woody with a hint of glue. The sugar content is not stated, though the character reads cask led. An easy yet layered Long Pond for drinkers who find cask strength Jamaicans too aggressive.
