Description
Le Contesse works at the foot of the Conegliano Valdobbiadene hills in the province of Treviso, a heartland for Prosecco. This wine is made entirely from Glera by the tank method, where the second fermentation takes place in sealed pressurised tanks rather than in bottle. That approach protects the grape's fresh, primary aromatics and gives a soft, persistent bead. It is finished in the extra dry range, which for Prosecco means a touch more perceptible fruit sweetness than a brut.
The wine is light straw yellow with a fine, lively perlage. The nose leads with golden apple and pear, backed by lemon, citrus peel and a floral lift. The palate is fresh and balanced, with gentle fruit sweetness, soft acidity and an easy, clean finish. Serve well chilled at 6 to 8 degrees in a tulip glass. It is an obvious aperitif and pairs happily with light fish, fresh salads, vegetable dishes and antipasti.
