Description
Le Contesse has been run by the Bonotto family since 1970, working below the Conegliano Valdobbiadene hills in Treviso. This is the frizzante, a lightly sparkling version made from 100 per cent Glera, with lower pressure than a full spumante and a softer, gentler bead. The second fermentation is carried out in temperature controlled pressurised tanks with selected yeasts, an approach that keeps the fruit fresh and primary. It is bottled young to hold that bright character.
The wine is pale straw yellow with a fine perlage. The nose is markedly fruity, with sour apple and grapefruit backed by ripe apple, acacia blossom and a floral lift. The palate is fresh, gently off dry and harmonious, with apple and grapefruit fruit and a long, clean finish. Serve well chilled at 6 to 8 degrees. It is an easy aperitif and a good all rounder at the table, suiting prawns, meat terrines, sushi, asparagus and light savoury dishes.
