Description
Laurent-Perrier is a Champagne house in Tours-sur-Marne, and its Cuvee Rose is a long-standing benchmark for the style. Unusually for Champagne, the colour comes from a short skin maceration of Pinot Noir rather than blending in red wine, which the house uses to capture bright, precise red fruit. It is made by the traditional method, with second fermentation in the bottle and extended ageing on the lees that adds a bready, biscuity frame under the fruit. The Brut dosage keeps the finish dry and fresh, and the magnum lets the wine develop slowly.
The colour is a bright, clear rose with a fine, persistent bead. The nose is vivid, with strawberry, raspberry and red currant alongside cherry and pomegranate, backed by a soft toasted-bread note from the lees. The palate is fresh and precise, with red fruit carried on lively acidity and a long, dry finish. Serve at around 8 to 10 degrees in a tulip glass. It works as an aperitif and alongside shellfish, grilled poultry and light game.
