Description
Laurent-Perrier's Cuvee Rose is one of the most recognised rose Champagnes, distinctive for being made by maceration rather than blending in red wine. Whole Pinot Noir grapes rest on their skins for a short time to draw colour and red fruit directly, before the traditional method second fermentation in bottle and several years on the lees. The result is a Pinot led rose finished in the brut style, so the vivid fruit is framed by a dry, savoury structure.
The wine is a bright, clear pink with a fine, persistent bead. The nose is full of fresh red fruit, with strawberry, raspberry and red currant joined by a touch of cherry and ripe white peach. The palate is dry and lively, with concentrated berry fruit, a fine mousse and a gentle biscuit note from the lees. The finish is long and fresh. Serve at 8 to 10 degrees in a white wine glass. It works as an aperitif and pairs well with poultry, white fish and lighter fruit puddings.
