La Liqueur de Monin Blue Curaçao

La Liqueur de Monin Blue Curacao is an orange liqueur from Monin, the French house out of Bourges that supplies the bar trade with syrups and liqueurs. Its flavour rests on bitter and sweet orange peel, carefully macerated and built into a balanced liqueur at 20% in the 700ml bottle. Like all curacao the colour is cosmetic and the flavour is orange, the blue inspired by the traditional curacao of the Caribbean rather than the taste.

The nose gives fresh orange peel, light bitterness and citrus sweetness, the palate fruity and faintly tart with bitter orange and lemon, the finish refreshing and clean. Its real job behind the bar is dramatic colour with genuine citrus underneath, the reason it carries a Blue Lagoon, a Swimming Pool or a Blue Margarita. It pairs naturally with citrus juices, pineapple and coconut, and works just as well in non alcoholic builds where the visual counts.
