Koskenkorva Vodka Lemon Lime Yarrow Flavoured

Koskenkorva is made at the village distillery of the same name in Finland, and this bottling starts from the classic Koskenkorva vodka, distilled from sustainably grown Finnish barley and pure spring water. Barley gives a soft, faintly bready grain base that takes flavouring cleanly. To that, the distillery adds natural lemon and lime flavours and, more unusually, an extract of real yarrow grown in Hameenkyro, a flowering herb that lends a gentle floral and herbal lift over the citrus. The result is a clearly structured flavoured vodka with a fresh, Nordic character and a herbal note you rarely meet in this category.

The nose is fresh and citrusy with lime, lemon peel, fine herbs and floral accents. The palate is soft and light with fruity citrus, floral nuances and a hint of yarrow, finishing fresh, delicately spicy and long. The herbal-citrus profile suits a long, lemonade-led serve: pour a measure over ice, top with cloudy lemonade and finish with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice, a clean and refreshing drink where the yarrow's herbal edge keeps it from tasting like a plain citrus mixer.
