Description
This 32 Years Old was distilled in 1963, one of the earliest vintages of Kinclaith to survive, and bottled by Gordon & MacPhail for its Private Collection in 1996 from single cask 100572, an outturn of just 64 bottles. Kinclaith, a Lowland malt built into the Strathclyde grain complex in Glasgow in 1957, was dismantled in 1975.
Glasgow's last malt distillery ran a single pair of pot stills, its spirit made almost entirely for Long John blends. Matured in a single Oloroso cask across thirty-two years, the sherry wood deepened this scarce old malt.
Bottled at 40%. The Oloroso gives dried fruit, melanoidins reading as fig and raisin, with tannins adding a walnut dryness over an aged, waxy depth. A rare early-vintage cask from a lost Glasgow distillery.
