Description
This 25 Years Old was distilled in 1967 and bottled by Gordon & MacPhail for its Connoisseurs Choice range in 1992. Gordon & MacPhail held some of the few Kinclaith casks ever to leave the blending hall. Kinclaith was a Lowland malt inside the Strathclyde grain complex in the Gorbals, Glasgow, built in 1957 and dismantled in 1975.
A lone pair of pot stills among the grain stills made Glasgow's last malt, almost all of it for Long John blends. Matured in ex-Bourbon across twenty-five years, the wood deepened this scarce old malt.
Bottled at 40%. Vanillin from the ex-Bourbon reads as vanilla and oak lactones as coconut, with maltol adding toffee over a waxy, aged depth. A Connoisseurs Choice bottling of a lost Glasgow distillery.
