Description
This Connoisseurs Choice bottling of Kinclaith was distilled in 1967 and released by Gordon & MacPhail for the Belgian market without a stated age. Kinclaith was a Lowland malt inside the Strathclyde grain complex in Glasgow, built in 1957 and dismantled in 1975, its spirit almost never bottled as a single malt.
Glasgow's last malt distillery ran a single pair of pot stills among the grain plant, its make destined for Long John blends. Matured in ex-Bourbon, the wood frames this rare Lowland malt.
Bottled at 40%. The ex-Bourbon gives vanillin for vanilla and oak lactones for coconut, with maltol for toffee over the aged, waxy character of this lost spirit. A Connoisseurs Choice glimpse of a vanished Glasgow distillery.
