An unaged organic cane-juice white from Fortin in Paraguay, bottled at 41%, fresh and dry with sugar-cane, citrus and apple over a minty lift, an oily mouthfeel and a herbal, citrus-and-cane finish, a rare South American agricole-style white.
Description
Bottled by Juuls Vin & Spritis, this Sepe Ron Blanco comes from Fortin in Paraguay, a rare South American entry in the cane-juice camp. It is an organic, unaged white distilled from fresh sugar-cane juice, agricole in style though made far outside the French appellation, bottled unsweetened at 41%.
The nose is fresh and green with sugar-cane, citrus and apple lifted by a minty note, and the palate stays dry and oily with more sugarcane and citrus. The finish runs herbal and dry with citrus and cane. At 41% it is a light, clean white that leans on freshness rather than power, a straightforward expression of unaged cane spirit from an unusual origin. One for the curious who want to taste a Paraguayan take on the dry, grassy cane-juice style, best in a Ti' Punch or a simple daiquiri.
