Description
Jameson Caskmates IPA Edition finishes the standard Jameson blend in casks that once seasoned India Pale Ale, part of the cask swap that runs between the distillery and brewers. The whiskey is single pot still and grain, triple distilled at Midleton in Co. Cork by Irish Distillers, and this release was bottled in 2021 for the European market.
The base spends its main maturation in ex-bourbon American oak before the IPA cask finish, which brings a hoppy, citric and lightly herbal note over the orchard fruit, honey and vanilla of the blend. Bottled at 40%, it stays soft and easy, the beer barrel influence adding a fresh, zesty character rather than changing the light, approachable heart of the whiskey.
