Description
Jameson Caskmates IPA Edition finishes the standard Jameson blend in casks seasoned with India Pale Ale, a spin on the cask exchange between the distillery and brewers. The base whiskey is single pot still and grain, triple distilled at Midleton in Co. Cork by Irish Distillers, here presented in a litre bottle for the European market.
Following its ex-bourbon maturation, the whiskey picks up a hoppy, citric and lightly herbal character from the IPA casks, sitting over the orchard fruit, honey and vanilla of the blend. Bottled at 40%, it is fresh and approachable, the beer cask finish adding a green, zesty lift rather than weight, a summer leaning counterpart to the darker Stout Edition.
