Description
Jameson Black Barrel takes the classic Jameson blend of single pot still and grain whiskey and rebuilds it around heavily toasted, double charred ex-bourbon barrels. It is made at Midleton in Co. Cork by Irish Distillers and carries a larger share of pot still whiskey than the standard bottling, giving it more body and spice.
The second charring of the barrels deepens the oak influence, drawing out toffee, vanilla, toasted wood and a nutty sweetness alongside the orchard fruit of the triple distilled base. Bottled at 40% with no age statement, it stays smooth and rounded while the charred cask character adds a warm, spiced richness that sets it apart from the entry Jameson.
