Description
This eighteen year old Jameson is a blend of single pot still and grain whiskey made at Midleton in East Cork, the Irish Distillers site under Pernod Ricard that produces the entire Jameson range. Triple distilled in the Irish manner, it carries the smooth, unpeated character that defines the house.
Maturation combined ex-bourbon American oak with Oloroso sherry casks, and the pairing shows as vanilla and orchard fruit against dried fruit and walnut from the sherry. Bottled at 46% for the European market, a step above the standard 40%, it has more grip and texture, the pot still whiskey lending baking spice under the mellow sweetness that long maturation brings.
