Description
Jameson 18 Years Old Limited Reserve was for many years the oldest age stated bottling in the core Jameson range, a blend of single pot still and grain whiskey from Midleton in East Cork, the Irish Distillers site that supplies every Jameson expression. Triple distillation and long maturation give it a rounded, elegant profile rather than an assertive one.
This 2013 release for the German market was aged in oak casks, predominantly ex-bourbon American oak, and finished to a mellow 40%. The result is honeyed and polished, with toffee, orchard fruit and vanilla over the soft baking spice of the pot still whiskey, the grain component keeping it light and easy. Age shows as depth and a fine, lingering finish rather than heavy wood.
