Before it became simply Special Reserve, the aged Jameson carried the 1780 name, marking the founding year of John Jameson's Dublin distillery. This 12 Years Old is a blend of pot still and grain whiskey made by Irish Distillers at Midleton in Co. Cork, bottled at 40% for the Irish market.

Matured in ex-bourbon American oak, it shows soft toffee, vanilla and banana from the grain, with pot still bringing orchard fruit, honey and a baking spice. Triple distilled and unpeated, the twelve years add dried fruit and a rounder oak to the smooth Jameson profile. A honeyed, approachable blend from the Midleton house, under the historic 1780 label.
