Jameson Special Reserve is the 12 Years Old expression of the world's best known Irish blend, produced by Irish Distillers at Midleton in Co. Cork. It marries pot still and grain whiskey, both distilled on the one site, and this European bottling was filled at 40%, offering the extra depth of a twelve year age statement over standard Jameson.
Matured in ex-bourbon American oak, the blend leans on soft toffee and vanilla from the grain, with pot still bringing orchard fruit, honey and a gentle spice. Triple distilled in the Irish manner, it is smooth and unpeated, the dozen years adding dried fruit and a fuller, rounder finish. An easy, honeyed blend in the Midleton house style.
