Jack Tar bottled this Uitvlugt Time Travel as a thirty-one year old single cask at cask strength, 59.2 percent, drawn off the double wooden pot still tied to the Uitvlugt estate. It is an unsweetened, full-proof bottling of a long-closed source, the kind of aged Guyanese single cask that has grown scarce as old stock runs down.
Matured in ex-bourbon wood, the nose is pure Demerara, pencil shavings, citrus, oak and varnished old wood, with the palate echoing graphite, citrus, oak and roasted notes, finishing on barrel, oak, dried fruit and a bitter edge. It stands as a clear representative of the double wooden pot still style and its vintage. Three decades of ageing have concentrated the wood and graphite into a deep, classic profile, a long-matured Uitvlugt that wears its age and its heritage still clearly.
