Description
This 8 year old Pure Malt carries the name of Charles MacKinlay & Co, the Leith blending house that backed the rebuilding of the Isle of Jura distillery in the early 1960s. A vintage bottling from the island malt's early decades, it predates the modern Jura branding.
Jura was rebuilt between 1960 and 1963 to revive the island's fortunes, designed for a light, Highland-style spirit. Matured in ex-Bourbon oak, the wood frames a young, clean island malt.
Bottled at 40%. Vanilla and coconut come from the cask's vanillin and oak lactones. Light and honeyed in the early Jura style, a historic glimpse of the distillery's first decades. A collector's piece from the MacKinlay era.
