Description
Decadent Drinks bottled this 30 year old 1990 Isle of Jura for its Whisky Sponge series, matured in ex-Bourbon wood. An outturn of 217 bottles for the UK, the Whisky Sponge releases are known for their playful labels and careful cask selection. Jura is the only distillery on its Inner Hebridean island, revived in 1963 to make a lighter malt than peaty Islay.
The distillery's light, clean spirit rewards three decades in oak. Matured in ex-Bourbon wood, the cask deepens the honeyed malt.
Bottled at its natural cask strength of 49.7%. The cask's vanillin reads as vanilla and its oak lactones as coconut, maltol adding a toffee sweetness. Three decades have layered waxy, honeyed fruit over polished oak. A characterful long-matured Whisky Sponge Jura.
