Isle of Jura 21 Years Old

Tide is one of Isle of Jura's older limited 21 year olds, the island malt given two decades in American oak. Jura is the lone distillery on its remote Hebridean island, rebuilt in 1963 to revive an economy that had collapsed with the original distillery's closure in 1901.

The distillery's tall stills and light spirit need time or active wood to open fully, and twenty-one years gives both. Matured in ex-Bourbon and American oak, the wood deepens the honeyed malt while keeping it bright.

Bottled at 46.7%. The ex-Bourbon and American oak give vanillin for vanilla and oak lactones for coconut, with a fresh oak lift. The recorded notes run to citrus, honey, fresh oak and vanilla. A polished, long-matured island twenty-one.
