Isle of Jura 19 Years Old

The Paps is Isle of Jura's 19 year old, named for the three quartzite mountains that dominate the island and feed its water. Matured in Pedro Ximenez sherry, it is among the sweeter, richer Jura expressions. The distillery is the lone producer on its remote Hebridean island, rebuilt in 1963 to revive the community.

The distillery's light, clean spirit takes deep sherry well over nineteen years. Matured in Pedro Ximenez casks, the sweetest of the sherry styles, the wood pulls the malt towards dark fruit.

Bottled at 45.6%. The Pedro Ximenez gives raisin, date and treacle from its melanoidins over a syrupy sweetness. The recorded notes run to a sherried character, chocolate, citrus, dried fruit, fresh fruit and vanilla. A rich, sweet island nineteen named for the Paps.
