Isle of Jura 14 Years Old

This 14 year old is Isle of Jura's American Rye Cask edition, the island malt given an unusual rye-cask influence over its standard ex-Bourbon maturation. Jura, the only distillery on its remote Hebridean island, was rebuilt in 1963 for a light, Highland-style spirit.

The distillery's clean make takes well to an active cask finish. Matured with an American rye cask influence, the wood brings a dry, spicy, grainy note the standard bottlings lack.

Bottled at 40%. The rye cask adds a dry, husky spice over the malt's honeyed core, the ex-Bourbon base giving vanilla beneath. The recorded notes run to a cooked malt note, dried fruit, honey, a husky grain edge, a mossy earthiness and fresh oak. A distinctive island fourteen.
