Description

The Bay is one of Isle of Jura's travel-led 12 year old editions, finishing the island malt in Pedro Ximenez sherry alongside its ex-Bourbon base. Jura is the only distillery on its remote Hebridean island, rebuilt in 1963 to bring back island employment.

The distillery makes a deliberately light malt, its tall stills giving a clean spirit. Matured in ex-Bourbon and finished in Pedro Ximenez casks, the PX brings the sweetest of the sherry styles to the wood.

Bottled at 44%. The ex-Bourbon gives vanilla and coconut, while the Pedro Ximenez adds raisin and date from its melanoidins over a syrupy sweetness. The recorded notes run to citrus, dried fruit, seasoned oak and vanilla. A sweeter, fuller twelve.
