Description
This 10 year old is a cask strength single cask of Isle of Jura, drawn from ex-Bourbon barrel 112. Where the standard ten is a gentle 40%, this is the island malt at full power, an outturn of 308 bottles for France.
Jura, the lone distillery on its remote Hebridean island, was rebuilt in 1963 for a light, Highland-style spirit. Matured in a single ex-Bourbon cask, the wood keeps the young malt clean while cask strength holds its weight.
Bottled at its natural cask strength of 57.2%. The ex-Bourbon wood gives vanillin for vanilla and oak lactones for coconut, with maltol for toffee. The full strength lifts the honeyed, maritime character into something bolder. A single cask ten with real drive.
