Isle of Jura 10 Years Old

This 10 year old comes from an old 1980s oval label, a vintage edition of Isle of Jura's core bottling from the island malt's earlier years. Jura is the only distillery on its remote Inner Hebridean island, rebuilt in 1963 to bring back work after six decades of silence.

The distillery was designed for a light, Highland-style spirit, its tall stills giving a clean make. Matured in ex-Bourbon oak, the wood rounds the malt over ten years.

Bottled at 40%. The ex-Bourbon cask lends vanilla through vanillin and coconut through oak lactones. The recorded notes run to citrus, cooked fruit, fresh fruit, a green leafy lift, chocolate and honey. A characterful older bottling of the island ten.
